We invite the community to come out, support the CHS Band program and enjoy great music!
The Centennial High School Band is holding its annual Play All Day on Saturday, February 25th from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Play All Day is a unique play-a-thon for the entire band and winter guard students. The goal of Play All Day is to play for 12 hours straight, while entertaining the community and raising money for next year’s band program. Students collect sponsorships prior to the event and collect donations from listeners at the Farmer’s Market and on the Mesilla Square. The band begins playing at the Las Cruces Farmers Market from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. There will be full band concerts on the main stage and small groups that will perform throughout the market. From there, the students move to the town square in Mesilla, where they play until 4 p.m. The final leg of the tour is a concert outside of the NMSU Pan Am Center prior to the NMSU basketball game. Students also play with the university band for the national anthem and until halftime. This event is organized by the non-profit CHS band booster club as one of their key fundraisers to support the band program at Centennial High School. The four-year-old music program has already won several awards and has gained recognition and reputation as an excellent music program through its short existence. “We are so excited to be able to share the wonderful music that our award winning band students perform, with the community,” says Philip Ramos, CHS Band Director. “Band has such a positive effect on the lives of our students. We want to thank all of the people who support our program, by playing for them in a fun and unique way.”
